If the government continues to build on a strengthening of vaccination and the introduction of a “vaccinal pass”, there is no longer new constraints at the short term.

The emergency, once again. Anxiety, always. Three days of Christmas Eve, the last variant of the SARS-COV-2, Omicron, has sharpen Europe and smuggled the government agenda. Worse, this new strain of coronavirus also places the threat again if it is containment, at least binding measures, such as gauges in shops, curfew or bars and restaurants for the Saint -Sylvestre or the beginning of January 2022. A refit of the most painful hours of the pandemic of Covid-19.

Tuesday, December 21, the spokesman of the government, Gabriel Attal, entrusted him without actions: “Nothing is excluded”. In the immediate future, the executive accelerates. The legislation to transform the “sanitary pass” into “vaccinal pass” will be presented as early as Monday, December 27 in the Council of Ministers for a passage in committee two days later and an examination in Parliament on January 3, 2022. Thus, the Device that mandatory immunization for all persons wishing to visit a restaurant, bar, theater or cinema would come into effect no later than January 15, and either at the end of the month, as planned for the schedule announced Sunday. In parallel, two million additional appointment slots to be vaccinated will be open by the end of the year. “We do not have a second to lose, if the virus accelerates, we accelerate too,” justified Mr. Attal.

No “sacred union”

The speed of propagation of Omicron, qualified as “dazzling”, convinced the executive to increase the pace. The decision was made on Monday, after an interview between Prime Minister Jean Castex, and the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron. In fact, if the vaccine can be a weapon facing Omicron, it must be unsuccessful before the “tsunami” predicted by epidemiologists in January. After meeting, on Tuesday, the presidents of parliamentary groups, Matignon nurtured all hopes to be able to act as soon as possible.

Failing a “sacred union” – France Insouchaise (LFI) refused to participate in this consultation – the majority, “welded” on the subject, had to have the support of the Socialist Party (PS) and Republicans (LR) within the hemicycle. “There is a hypocrisy of the government. It would have been better to make immunization mandatory to put the state in front of his responsibilities, but we will not oppose the vaccinal pass,” said Damien Abad, Member of Parliament for Ain and President of the LR Group at the Assembly. As for the Senate, its president, Gérard Larcher, assured Mr. Castex of his cooperation, leaving a review of the text from 6 January by senators.
