Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced plan “b” on security guarantees

The Russian side has a plan “b” on the issue of security guarantees. This was stated by the head of the Delegation of the Russian Federation in the negotiations on military security and arms control in Vienna, Konstantin Gavrilov, reports RIA Novosti.

The representative of the Foreign Ministry stressed that the plan is designed in case the United States and NATO will not respond to Moscow’s proposals. “Negotiations, contacts begin. We are at the very beginning of the path, and they will be forced to react to it,” he concluded.

At the same time, Gavrilov noted that no one would like to resort to alternative measures. “This is not an ultimatum – this is a tough requirement, which is inspired by the circumstance and time,” he clarified. The diplomat called on the parties to get used to the idea that the interests of Russia should be defended.
