Scientists of the Kuzbass State Technical University proposed a new method of processing hazardous waste of the chemical industry – spent catalysts. The extraction of beneficial components will cost two or three times cheaper than mining from mineral raw materials. This is reported in a press release published on the Soluki website.rf.
researchers proposed to extract rare and valuable metals from catalysts suitable for the manufacture of alloys. This will help solve the problem of storing highly toxic chemical waste, which cause serious harm to the environment due to the allocation into the soil and water arsenic, vanadium, sulfuric acid and other hazardous substances.
According to scientists proposed by them, the technology allows not only to neutralize catalysts at relatively low temperatures, but also to get granules for steel doping. Such products can replace ferromolibdden, molybdenum oxide or metallic molybdenum. Processing methods include roasting, chlorination, leaching, chemical deposition, extraction and others.
