Gas pipeline “Northern Stream-2” is not a purely economic project. This was stated by the Chairman of the Bundestag Committee on Foreign Policy, Social Democrat Michael Mouth on DeutschlandFunk Radio Station.
Roth admitted that, although the project is implemented by a dozen European companies from 12 member countries of the European Union (EU), it has a political aspect. The German deputy noted that this topic causes many partners to the EU “Headache”.
Previously, the vice-chancellor and the Minister for Economic Development and Climate Protection of Germany Robert Habek called “North Stream-2” geopolitical error in Germany. He noted that all countries of the European Union, except Germany and Austria, were always against the construction of the pipeline. “Now the pipeline is built. The question is unclear whether he will be able to get started. On this issue, it is necessary to decide in accordance with European and national legislation,” said Habek.
