Scientists have declared connection of Omicron strain with a virus from laboratory

The appearance of an oomikron strain of coronavirus could lead one of the artificially created pathogens COVID-19 for laboratory mice. This is reported by Izvestia with reference to the study of Chinese scientists.

As noted by the publication, the usual SARS-COV-2 for mice is not dangerous, in connection with which coronaviruses specially created in laboratories exist. The hypothesis about the development of a new strain COVID-19 in rodents nominated scientists from the Institute of Genetics and Biology for the Development of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. They suggested that Oomikron’s progenitor could move from people to mice, quickly accumulate mutations, and then “jump” back. At the same time, researchers identified 45 point mutations that Oomikron acquired after discrepancies with the original line.

Such an assumption was previously made by the scientist of the Botswan-Harvard Institute of AIDS Sikhulile Moyo (Sikhulile Moyo) in a conversation with Bloomberg.

At the same time, Professor of the Department of Genomics and Bioinformatics SFU, Professor of Göttingen University Konstantin Krasovsky made that a new version of Coronavirus could pass through a person from home or wild mice.
