The first test launch of a heavy intercontinental ballistic missile “Sarmat” was transferred to 2022. This is reported by TASS with reference to the source in the defense and industrial complex.
According to the agency, the start-up in the framework of flight tests will be held in the first quarter of next year. There is no official confirmation of this information yet.
Earlier commander of the rocket troops of strategic destination (RVSN) Sergey Karakayev said that the first regiment of the newest Russian intercontinental ballistic missiles “Sarmat” will stand on combat duty at the end of 2022.
In August, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu stated that the flight tests of the Sarmat rocket will begin in 2021, and ends in 2022.
