India may not be afraid of possible sanctions from the United States and really become the first buyer of the Russian Air Defense system (air defense) C-500 “Prometheus”, the American edition of 19FortyFive believes.
The publication states that Delhi has long-standing ties with Moscow, which, in particular, despite the pressure of Washington, acquires various weapons, for example, the C-400 air defense system “Triumph”.
The publication assumes that the acquisition of C-500 “Prometheus” from the Russian side “can start Washington too far, which will put the Government of the Indian Prime Minister of Narendra Miodi in a dead end. “On the other hand, India does not intend to become a US client state. She appreciates its long-standing relations with Russia, including Moscow’s willingness to sell modern weapons without prior conditions, which often make it difficult to sell US weapons,” the publication says.
19FortyFive reminds that since the 1960s, India is the main market for Russian weapons, including Su-30 fighters, T-90 tanks and submarines.
The publication notes that the C-500 “Prometheus” is able to detect and destroy not only small planes, but also ballistic, hypersonic and winged rockets, as well as drones, including in space. “For India, which is in a state of a cold war with China and its expanding arsenal of ballistic missiles and stealth fighters, access to modern air defense facilities would be useful,” 19FortyFive writes.
In June, The National Interest magazine wrote that the prospective American Stregestic bomber B-21 Raider would be invulnerable to C-500 “Prometheus”.
