German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called the Suspension of the Certification of the Northern Stream-2 gas pipeline. He stated this at a joint press conference with the President of France by Emmanuel Makron, following the results of the EU summit, TASS reports.
Scholz noted that the “Northern Stream-2” is a commercial project in which private investments were invested. He stressed that the decision on the compliance of the project by European legislation a German regulator received, not guided by politics. At the same time, the Chancellor added that this procedure provides for “a lot of consultations”, but the process goes.
Earlier it was reported that the United States pushes Germany to stop the implementation of the Northern Stream-2 project. According to the American publication Bloomberg, the new Government of the Federal Republic of Germany at the moment did not express readiness for such a step.
November 16 also reported that the certification of “Northern Flow-2” was suspended. According to the plan, she had to end on January 8, 2022, but now the deadlines moved to an indefinite period. Deliveries on the gas pipeline may begin in the fall of the 2022th.
