According to a comprehensive schedule of work on the Baikonur cosmodrome on the ONEWEB spacecraft launch program (1 and 2 steps) of the Soyuz-2.1B carrier rocket.
Operations were performed by specialists of the South Space Center (branch of the center of exploitation of land-based space infrastructure sites) and the Progress Rocket and Space Center (included in the state corporation “Roskosmos”) in the installation and test case of the technical package No. 31. The next stage of work – carrying out autonomous testing systems.
Start of the Soyuz-2.1b media missile with an overclocking unit “Frigate” and 36 ONEWEB spacecraft is scheduled for December 27, 2021 from the starting complex “East”. ONEWB spacecraft are designed to create a space system of communication providing high-speed Internet access at any point of the Earth.
Internet access through the OneWeb satellite system will be carried out through 40 terrestrial terminals stations that will be deployed on the ground surface. OneWeb terminals will be autonomous, capable of independently supplying themselves with energy and well-protected from the influence of adverse environmental factors. Each of the terminals will be able to provide high-speed Internet access in its coverage area through Wi-Fi technology, LTA or 5G. A licensed range of radio frequencies will be used or, where there will be such an opportunity to open for general use of the radio frequency range of Wi-Fi standards, LTU or 5G.
The company OneWeb intends to deploy a low-bit grouping consisting of more than 600 satellites for the widespread provision of high-speed broadband Internet access services in the KU-range, which must be primarily able to communicate Wi-Fi, LTA or 5G communication operators, as well as Internet providers .
