Moscow offered NATO to return to conditions of 1997

Russia and NATO should return to the conditions agreed in 1997. With such a proposal, the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Ryabkov was made during a briefing broadcast in twitter United States .

He noted that Russia and the North Atlantic Alliance should return to compliance with the “fundamental act on mutual relations, cooperation and security between Russia and the North Atlantic Treaty of 1997.” According to the provisions of this contract, Russia and NATO do not consider each other as opponents.

During the briefing, Ryabkov also recalled that NATO was seriously addressed the question of Russia’s membership in this organization. According to the diplomat, the refusal of Moscow from joining the Alliance is a missed opportunity for Brussels.
