According to him, economists in the government of the United States are currently not ready to give a prognosis to how strong will the impact of the dissemination of the new version of the virus on the national economy.
“We are far from knowing what it will be,” Powell said. He explained that Omicron could well get to the United States and displace the Delta as a dominant strain.
Earlier, the World Health Organization and the World Bank said that more than half a billion people were under threat of extreme poverty due to coronavirus pandemic. In WHO and WB stressed that the pandemic caused the strongest economic crisis since the 1930s, so people became harder to pay for treatment. It is noted that financial difficulties will become all more intensively taking into account the growth of poverty, falling income and the difficulties of states to receive taxes.
