Imports to Russia of palm oil on the basis of nine months amounted to 803 thousand tons. It is 7.1 percent more than for the same period last year, it follows from Rosstat data.
However, in September, the purchases of the goods fell: by September last year – by 17.3 percent, and by August 2021 – by 34.6 percent. Moreover, the last few years imported about one million tons of palm oil per year. It is mainly used in the confectionery industry.
Earlier it was reported that Russia has increased the import of palm oil and its fractions by 12 percent in the first half of 2021 compared to the same period of the past (up to 529 thousand tons). In June, procurement increased by 75.2 percent to last year’s indicator and 69.6 percent to the previous month.
Meanwhile, the Russians began to move on cheese substitutes due to income fall. Cheese products – an inexpensive alternative to cheese (worth a third of cheaper), with their production it is possible to use vegetable fats, such as palm oil.
At the same time, the products containing palm oil increase the level of “bad” cholesterol in human blood, earlier the doctor and TV presenter Alexander Butchers.
