President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced the exit to the finishing directly when working on a new version of the Constitution, transfers BelTA.
“I believe that today it can be stated that the work on the preparation of the Constitution’s changes has reached the finish line,” said Lukashenko at a joint meeting of the Constitutional Commission and the Working Group on the Refinement of the draft fundamental law of the country.
In early November, Lukashenko announced a referendum on amendment to the Constitution in February 2022.
Lukashenko declared the need to change the Constitution against the background of protests engulfed Belarus after the election of the head of state in August 2020. He argued that after the adoption of a new version of the Basic Law leaves his post.
