The United States decided to exacerbate the trade war and brought to the blacklist a dozen Chinese technological companies, referring to the considerations of national security. This is reported by CNBC.
Eight technological organizations based in China were added to the list for their alleged help by the Chinese military, as well as for attempts to “purchase products of American origin to support military applications.” The United States has long argued that firms collect confidential information in the interests of the People’s Liberation Army of China. China’s Communist Party earlier stated that he was not engaged in industrial spying.
“Global trade and commerce must support the world, prosperity and well-paid work, not the risks of national security,” said US Trade Minister Gina Raymondo. In total, 27 new organizations from China, Japan, Pakistan and Singapore were added to the list. Potential suppliers of companies from the list will now have to apply for a license before they can sell them the goods. Applications are likely to be rejected, the publication notes.
In February, US President Joe Biden promised not to get involved in trade wars with China, as his predecessor Donald Trump did, and instead compete with the second economy of the world as part of international rules.
