The Poland Ministry of Defense ordered the repair of Soviet anti-aircraft missile systems (SPC) of the low range “OSA”. The combat readiness of Soviet weapons will support the creation of new missile defense systems (air defense). This is reported by Defence24.
SPC Repair Contract received the PGZ Consortium Enterprise (Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa). The cost of the contract is 100 million zlotys (about 24 million dollars). The agreement involves the performance of work until 2023.
Enterprise will repair 9A33BM2 combat vehicles 9k33m2 complexes “OSA-AK”. The publication notes that the Polish Armed Forces use the “OSA” SPC since the 1980s. The complex on the wheel chassis allows to ensure the protection of troops on the march.
Subsequently, Soviet complexes will replace promising air defense systems that are developing within the framework of NAREW and SONA projects.
Previously, Britain and Poland signed an agreement on joint work on the Polish NAREW air defense system. Polish Development can get ammunition based on the British CAMM Rocket (Common Anti-Air Modular Missile).
In October, Pioran’s portable anti-aircraft missile complex with the Russian “Verba” was compared in Poland. In the publication, Defence24 noted that the range of the Polish complex exceeds 6.4 kilometers.
