French fishermen promised to block ports in La Manche

French fishermen promised to block three freight ports of France in the channel of La Mans to access British courts due to the fact that the UK still did not give them licenses for fishing in their territorial waters. This is reported by CNN.

The National Committee of France on Marine Fisheries said that the protest action will be held in the port cities of Saint-Little, Kale and Urachema. In addition to the ports, fishermen will block the passage through the tunnel under La Mansha. “We don’t need a handy, we just want to return our licenses,” said President of the National Committee Gerard Romiti.

On October 27, the French government threatened with the sanctions of the UK if London continues to prevent fish catch in the waters of La Mans after the completion of Brexit. French fishermen received twice less permits for fish catch next to Jersey Island than they were guaranteed. The French government is going to force London to comply with the concluded agreement.

In May, London has already refused fishermen trawlers from France in access to the waters of Jersey Island. His water area is historically considered French fishing grounds. Then it almost led to an open conflict and the electrical blockade of the island.
