The new Constitution of Belarus is not developed for the existing power. This was announced by the President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko at a joint meeting of the Constitutional Commission and the Working Group on the Implementation of the Project of the Basic Law of the country, BelTA reports.
The head of state called the goal of making changes to the Constitution and stressed that it is necessary to do for the life of future generations. “The case in those who go beyond you and for us are the youth, which has not yet sniffed yet. They believe that they are on the Internet and potatoes, and carrots, and bananas are everything,” the president added.
At the same time, Lukashenko noted that the Constitution is not updated in his personal interests. “If someone thinks that I climbed behind the chair and have already cried my arms, so that I did not tear off here from him, you’re just mistaken,” he said.
The head of the republic also noticed that part of his supporters does not consider it necessary to make changes to the main law. According to him, they would like the current president to remain in power as long as possible, and the Constitution was preserved in the country, in which “the state created and defended.”
Earlier, Lukashenko called the main changes that are planning to contribute to the Constitution of Belarus. He indicated that the emphasis was on them to strengthen the Institute of Peopling, namely, consolidating the constitutional status of the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly (VNS).
Before that, the Belarusian President reported that a referendum on the amendments to the Constitution of the Republic will be held in February 2022.
