Today, on November 25, 2021, Roscosmos State Corporation, together with the Moscow Museum of Cosmonautics, the Russian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation and the Federation of Cosmonautics of Russia held a presentation of the Soyuz-39 special edition dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Space Flight Intercosmos of the Soviet-Mongolian crew V. Janibekova and J. Gurragch.
The solemn ceremony began with watching a short video dedicated to the Intercosmos program – Soyuz-39. Soyuz-39 spacecraft started from the Baikonur cosmodrome on March 22, 1981 and made a successful docking with the Salute-6 orbital station. The first Soviet-Mongol crew fulfilled the work program designed for seven days. It included medical and biological, physico-technical and technological experiments, as well as studies of the atmosphere and natural resources of the Earth. Cosmonauts conducted observations and photographing the territory of Mongolia, including the Gobi desert. The scientific program of the flight consisted of 25 experiments and was fully implemented, which became a record for the Intercosmos program.
The story of this flight was reflected in the Book “Soyuz-39”, which is a collection of archival documents from the Russian State Funds of Scientific and Technical Documentation Funds.
As part of the event for honorary guests – twice the hero of the Soviet Union, the pilot-cosmonaut of the USSR Vladimir Janibekov and the first cosmonaut of the Mongolian People’s Republic, the hero of the Mongolian People’s Republic, the Hero of the Soviet Union Zhipdhemidine Gurragchu turned Russian members of the crew of the International Space Station.
After the solemn ceremony of the event, a teleconference was held, during which Vladimir Janibekov from the Museum’s cinema has contacted Zhipdaremidia Gurgchey. Cosmonauts shared flight details and their impressions of collaboration. At the end of the teleteption, the meeting participants asked questions to guests to guests and received Vladimir Janibekov’s autograph in the book.
