American biologists have found a predisposition to suicide in genes

A group of American scientists stated that people may have a genetic suicide propensity, research results are published in Biological Psychiatry.

Biologists studied the structure of the genome about 30 thousand residents of the United States and other developed countries with suicidal inclinations. In addition, indicators of 520 thousand volunteers were analyzed, who had never had such a desire.

During the data assessment, they found the DNA section affecting the desire of a person to commit suicide. At the same time, this section of the seventh chromosome was associated with different mental disabilities. Scientists were confident that he raises sleep disorders and desire to smoke. Hundreds of mutations in the seventh chromosome form a predisposition to suicide: heavily lowered or increased the likelihood of suicide.

“This indicates the need to explore how the variations in this DNA section affect the tendency to suicides in the presence and absence of mental illness,” said one of the authors of the study, Associate Professor of Vanderbilt University in Nashville Douglas Ruderfer (Douglas Ruderfer).

Previously, scientists said that women, military doctors, people with disorders, are mostly accustomed to suicide.
