Belarus against the background of the conflict with the European Union decided to strengthen the strategic partnership of the country with China. The country’s president of the country Alexander Lukashenko signed the relevant directive, the press service of the Belarusian leader was reported.
“The document is aimed at further deepening a strategic partnership of Belarus with China on a wide range of directions in 2021-2025,” the report says. Belarusian officials within the framework of the signed document will have to implement about 50 specific practical measures.
The intention of developing economic cooperation with Beijing Minsk said against the background of the exacerbation of the conflict of Belarus and the EU due to the migration crisis in the Belarusian-Polish border. On December 2, the European Union approved the fifth package of sanctions against Belarusian physical and legal entities involved in the “hybrid actions of Belarus to instrumentalizing migrants. In response, the Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Puzzchenko announced the ambulance introduction of Minsk legislative restrictions against the West.
The new directive of Lukashenko sets the purpose of bringing relations with China to a qualitatively new level. To achieve such a result, Belarusians wanted to strengthen cooperation in the political sphere, as well as within the framework of the Chinese global initiative “one belt and one way”, creating new transport corridors for communication with China around the world.
Earlier, China lowered the status of diplomatic relations with a member of the European Union Lithuania due to the decision of Vilnius to approve the discovery of Taiwan’s office. China also excluded Lithuania from its customs system.
