The US Department of Commerce may introduce duties to import fertilizers from Russia. Notification of the agency published in the US Federal Register.
US is ready to hit the Russian duties on Russian companies, since the Ministry of Commerce believes that manufacturers and exporters of carbamide-ammonia mixtures in Russia receive subject to American compensation measures subsidies.
Duties want to charge the EuroChem and Acron companies, they include mineral fertilizers. An additional rate for each of the companies may amount to more than 9.5 percent (9.84 and 9.72 percent, respectively). The final decision of the department plans to receive in April 2022.
In June, Montorg organized an anti-dumping investigation into products from Russia and Trinidad and Tobago, the export of which allegedly damages the American economy. In November last year, the department introduced duties to import phosphate fertilizers from Russia.
In November, several largest domestic producers of mineral fertilizers predicted possible problems in shipments abroad due to the introduction of quotas.
Russian authorities on November 3 adopted a decree limiting the export of nitrogen and complex nitrogen-containing fertilizers from December 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin explained such measures to ensure the domestic fertilizer market to avoid raising food prices.
