The promising Russian piston aircraft engine ADD-A developed within the framework of the research work, intended for an acrobatic category aircraft, tested in an inverted position, reports the Central Institute of Aviation Motor Station (CIAM) named after Peter Baranov.
The organization notes that similar “non-traditional” tests are necessary to confirm the performance of the new installation and its systems (first of all – lubricants and cooling) when performing the reverse piloting figures. Currently confirmed the performance of the APD-A on the mode of small gas.
On the basis of the Yak-52 Laboratory Test of the ADD-A, created on the basis of the APF 500 Aviation Piston Engine, is scheduled for 2022.
In October, RIA Novosti, referring to Cyam, reported that the Yak-18T aircraft with APD-500, based on the power plant of the Russian car Aurus, passed the pre-flight tests. During tests, the engine showed steady operation and the ability to provide the necessary flight characteristics.
