India’s Ministry of Defense will receive more than 600 thousand Russian automata AK-203 of the caliber of 7.62 millimeters. The contract for the supply of industries of Indian production was signed as part of a meeting of the heads of defense departments of Russia and India. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the Kalashnikov Concern.
The report noted that the production of automata was established at a joint venture Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited. Preparation for the production of automatic machines AK-203 in the city of Corva took three years.
Earlier, the Ambassador of India Bala Venkatesh Varma reported before the conclusion of the mission in Moscow about the production of Russian weapons. According to him, within the framework of the Make In India program, it is planned to release 700 thousand AK-203 machines.
Factory for the production of Russian automata in India was opened in 2019. Director of the Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation (FSVTs) Dmitry Shuguev noted that the parties agreed to issue 750,000 automata.
In October, “Izvestia” reported on the arrival of new automata AK-12 for armament of intelligence and special forces of airborne troops. Also, the military will receive night sights, thermal imagers and silencers.
