Retailer X5 Group (owns the “Pyaterochka” trading networks, “Crossroads”, “Carousel”, “Chizhik”) doubted the results of verification of the Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service for the Kursk Region, according to which trading networks overestimate the cost of products due to their dominant positions on the market.
The press service of Ufass in the Kursk region on November 29 reported that the employees of the department during the inspection recorded in the stores of retail chains “Magnit” and “Pyaterochka” different prices for the same products depending on the market share occupied by each trading network .
“So, in 7 municipalities: Zolotokhinsky, Medvensky, Oktyabrsky, Fatek, Belovsky, Soviet and Gorshchechensky districts, where trading networks occupy a dominant position, the cost of chickens, oil, eggs, potatoes, cabbage, onions, carrots, flour, Rice and millet exceeded the set in Kursk, where there are no signs of the dominant position, “the report says.
According to the results of the check, Kursk Ufas sent a warning to the owner companies to “stop unreasonable overestimation of retail prices” within 10 days from the date of receipt of this prescription.
in x5, however, consider the claims of the Office to “Pyaterochka” unreasonable. As the Russian newspaper writes, in a response letter addressed to the leader of Ufas in the Kursk region, the retailer claims that in 7 out of 12 cases “prices for different food products are indicated in the summary table with the results of monitoring. Business representatives also believe that in two cases the verifiers made a mistake when recording prices, and in the latter case the price difference is explained by the discount to attract customers acting in one of the stores. Thus, retailers are believed, the conclusions about the overestimation of prices were based on incorrect data.
Kursk Ufas Russia took note of the letter X5, reported in the Russian Gazeta service. The FAS notes that the agency regularly conducts similar discussions with trading networks, according to their results, retailers usually execute FAS warnings.
