A new treatment of respiratory failure after COVID-19 has been proposed

Russian scientists from the Siberian State Medical University and the Tomsk National Research Medical Center have developed a new way of treating respiratory failure from the victorious coronavirus. This is reported in an article published in the Excli Journal magazine. Briefly on the study tells in a press release on the SDUNUKI website.rf.

In patients who suffered a sharp respiratory distress syndrome against the background of viral pneumonia from COVID-19, long-term respiratory failure can develop. Famous methods of therapy are sometimes unable to save a person from this state.

In the new work, Russian scientists offered to use short-term inhalation of a gas mixture containing xenon and oxygen. The effectiveness of this method was determined using computed tomography, psychometry and other methods. Scientists find out that the patients had increased respiratory volume, the frequency of respiration and heart rate decreased, and the oxygen content in arterial blood increased.
