Russian Embassy in the United States confirmed information about the arrest of American citizen Mark Fogel in Moscow for drug smuggling. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press secretary of American diplomsses in Moscow Jason Reholts.
“We are aware of the US citizen’s messages, but we cannot comment on this case for confidentiality reasons,” said the representative of the Embassy.
Earlier, according to Interfax, members of the metropolitan public observation commission (ONC) found Fogel in Moscow SIZO-5. He said that he was detained in August 2021 for transportation of 17 grams of marijuana, which he used for medical purposes to appoint a doctor.
A US citizen explained that he suffered an operation on the spine and it was prescribed to it to facilitate the effects of surgical intervention. The American indicated that he did not know about banning for medical marijuana in Russia.
