The Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Si Jinping declared the importance of “chinaization” of religion called to strengthen control over religious activities on the Internet. “Religious activities should be conducted within the framework of laws and regulatory standards, it should not damage the well-being of citizens, violate the public order and norms of morality or to interfere with educational, judicial and management issues or social life,” the chairman of the PRC is convinced.
In his opinion, the authorities should “chitazing” religion so that it is more related to the people, the Committee and Socialism.
Religious issues in Chinese society are one of the most sharp, and official Beijing is not the first attempt to control its representatives. A particularly scandalous theme was the so-called Muslim-Uigur genocide, about which the public became known in 2015. According to a number of human rights organizations, China is conducting a policy aimed at assimilation of the population in the Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region. Muslims living there were forbidden to call children traditional names for them, forced to eat pork and drink alcohol in violation of traditions.
