Simple Belarusians do not support the opposition and do not know its requirements, says the President of the country Alexander Lukashenko. His words leads BelTA.
Among the requirements of the opposition, the Belarusian president listed the union’s gap with Russia, invitation to NATO’s troops, “reformatting the church” and the ban of Russian.
“They are hiding now: it is not profitable for them,” Lukashenko agreed on the tactics of opposition. He also referred to the sociological studies conducted by the authorities, which show that the majority of the population supports the current political course.
Lukashenko also stressed that it relates positively to the constructive opposition, but “traitors should not be in power.” “You are the oppositionist – please go to the opposition so that people see that you are an opposition, and this is power,” he stressed.
Earlier, Lukashenko said that in Belarus there were always about ten percent of the opponents of the state. He called for “patiently understand” with each of them not to repeat old mistakes. For example, he led the Soviet mass repressions of the thirties of the last century.
