Banks found a new way to protect customers from fraudsters

VTB Bank will provide all of its customers the opportunity to limit the receipt of a loan through the Internet Bank or Mobile Application, the Deputy Board of the Bank Anatoly Programnikov (a press release of the company is at the disposal of “Renta.ru”). Thus, customers will be able to better protect against scammers using social engineering methods to obtain borrowed funds.

Thanks to a new way to protect clients, a fraudster will not be able to get a loan, even if it presents all the information about the borrower, and does not recognize the reason for the refusal, told the printers. But the bank at an early stage will understand that the application takes an attacker.

According to the representative of the Bank, when making a fraudulent loan, the “most complex” consequences for the borrower and the bank are occurring. The first often does not have the ability to return debt, and the second cannot allow the growth of overdue debts. Protect customers from fraudsters will help the introduction of “smart scoring” technology, which at an early stage will determine whether the client has independently or “under hypnosis”, told the printers.

In March, the Central Bank offered to oblige banks to allow customers to limit remote access to their accounts to make it difficult to influence the client. In December, the first deputy head of the Information Security Department of the Bank of Russia Artem Sychev said that the Central Bank sent the necessary regulatory act to coordinate with the FSB. He found it difficult to call the deadlines for the introduction of this opportunity.

CEO to protect the remote banking Safetech Denis Kalelemberg informed RBC that only customers with a high level of financial literacy will take advantage of the issuance of loans over the Internet. He suggested that banks would not lead the massive educational campaign of this opportunity, because in their interests to promote a slight issuance of a loan without visiting the office. “Therefore, the promotion of this story is to keep up with himself,” said Kalemberg.

Head of credit risk management of the Raiquiffisenbank retail segment Alexey Kramsky called a ban on online lending “too tough and uncomfortable measure” for the client. He brought the situation when the client banned the issuance of loans to his name, but then changed his mind and decided to take funds, but now he needs to go to the bank to cancel his decision.

In the third quarter, fraudsters kidnapped 3.2 billion rubles from bank customers through unauthorized money transfers – 18.5 percent more than a year ago, the Central Bank was reported. The statistics did not get a popular way now when loans are made under the influence of fraudsters.
