Diplomat spoke out against the draft resolution and called the UN Security Council unacceptable approach. “We object to the creation of a new direction of the Council, which approves generic in nature and automatic communication between climate change and international security,” he said.
In October, the UN Secretary General Anthony Guterresh pointed to the need for more ambitious measures to combat climate change to enter the “reliable way to preserve global warming at the level of 1.5 degrees Celsius.” According to him, the powers should take immediate actions to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by 45 percent to 2030.
