Deputy Foreign Ministry of Russia Sergey Ryabkov said RIA Novosti that Europe’s neglect approach to security on the continent, including the following US techniques, disappoints.
“Europeans are very disappointed with a disappointing attitude to the security of the continent, the safety of Euro-Atlantic,” said Ryabkov. According to him, if the Europeans will continue to “swim downstream” and be guided “by those methods that descend from Washington and are replicated by the NATO secretariat in Brussels, will not reach good.”
Earlier, Ryabkov said that the consequences of NATO expansion to the east will be severe, and this situation is one of the most serious problems in the Euro-Atlantic region today. He recalled that NATO speaks for the right of every state to independently determine which unions he will join and how to ensure its safety.
In December, the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that at the moment the European Union does not need new security-related structures. The Secretary General did not see the need to revise the defense strategy of the association.
