Moldavian law enforcement officers banned a number of Russians entry into the republic because of the elections held in Transnistria. About this, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharov said on a weekly briefing, the correspondent “Renta.ru” reports.
The diplomat responded to the deportation of Russian citizens from Moldova and noted that such actions of the leadership of the republic against Russians demonstrate the powers of the authorities before conducting elections in Transnistria.
“Regardless of real reasons, it is hardly combined with statements about readiness for a constructive dialogue with Russia. We hope that Moldova will refuse such unfriendly steps that will not be left unanswered,” Zakharov added.
Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Foreign Ministry) of the Transnistrian Moldavian Republic (PMR) accused Chisinau in a rough violation of the rights and freedoms of Russian citizens, who followed the territory of the country in Transnistria to monitor the elections of the head of the PMR. In particular, by the representative of the Russian Chamber of Russia, Vladimir Zhuravlev, Deputy Director of the CIS Institute, Professor Vladimir Egorov and political scientist Natalia Narotitskaya, were deported to Moldova.
