Rising prices in Sweden broke record

Inflation in Sweden in annual terms at the end of November reached 3.6 percent and became a record for 28 years – from December 1993. It is reported by the country’s statistical management.

The main factor in the acceleration of annual inflation was the rise in fuel prices (the rise in price for the year by 34.8 percent), electricity (plus 29.1 percent) and batch tours (plus 17.5 percent). Food in Sweden has risen in price for the year only one percent, although in some countries of the world it is among the growth leaders. For some consumer goods – computers, mobile phones, audio and photo equipment – prices decreased.

Consumer price index with a fixed interest rate is the main indicator of inflation in Sweden – increased by 0.5 percent in November compared with October 2021. The rise in price of electricity and fuel provided almost half of the November inflation. During this period, the consumer price index excluding electricity has grown only by 0.1 percent, to 1.9 percent.

December 10, the US Department of Labor reported on record inflation for 39 years who has reached 6.8 percent. Since November 2020, gasoline has increased by 58.1 percent, energy prices rose by 33.3 percent, used cars and trucks – by 31.4 percent, the cost of products increased by 6.1 percent.
