Lithuanian Foreign Minister resigned due to Belarusian transit

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielus Landsbergis wrote a resignation statement. Reports about it DELFI.

The head of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry said that he decided to resign due to the ongoing transit of Belarusian goods. In particular, this is due to the transfer through the country of products “Belaruskali”, against which the United States has previously introduced sanctions, and “reputational challenges”, which such a situation creates for the Lithuanian government.

In August, the Lithuanian Minister of Transport and Communications Marius Skodis stated that after the entry of American sanctions into force in December, the transit of Belarusian potash fertilizers will be terminated through the territory of Lithuania.
