Europe hit Uber

The European Commission decided to hit Uber and other services related to the Gig Economy (taxi aggregators, delivery services), developing new rules for their work in the EU territory (EU), writes CNBC.

The main innovation concerns the status of service workers, such as taxi drivers, couriers cleaners and fitness coaches. They are invited to consolidate the right to full reception in the staff of companies, which in turn will mean the availability of fixed and guaranteed salary, holidays, unemployment benefits in case of dismissal.

The initiative has already approved trade unions in most EU countries. It is expected that the law is expected to affect about 4.1 million people employed in the “Gig-Economy”.

Now, in most cases, service employees are drawn up as independent contractors, which reduces employers’ responsibility and reduces their costs.
