EU supported Lithuania in conflict with China

The European Union (EU) stood up for Lithuania in conflict with China and demanded explanations from the PRC due to the economic pressure rendered to the country. EU High Representative on Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel and Executive Deputy Chairman of the European Commission (EC) Valdis Dombrovskis published a joint statement about China’s measures against Lithuania.

“Unity and solidarity within the EU remain the key to defending our interests and values in relations with all countries. The European Union is ready to resist all types of political pressure and coercion applied against any member of the Union,” the officials says.

The EU has become aware of the problems of Lithuanian goods in Chinese customs, as well as about the rejection of China Lithuanian applications for imports of goods from the country. The European Union appealed to the PRC government for explaining the situation. If the information is confirmed, the EU intends to begin the proceedings within the World Trade Organization.
