The Electron Ultralight Rocket brought two satellites of remote sensing Earth to the near-earth orbit in the interests of the BlackSky operator, Rocket Lab reports.
Starting the carrier took place from the site located on the Mahio Peninsula in New Zealand.
Rocket Lab notes that in just the history of its existence launched 109 satellites.
In March, the company reported plans to create a multi-sized medium rocket Neutron, intended for launching at a low near-earth orbit of about 8 tons of payload. At the same time, TASS noted that the planned carrier has the same lifting capacity as the Russian disposable “Soyuz-2.1b”.
In November 2020, the second company in the world after Spacex, American Rocket Lab, first successfully retained the first stage of the orbital rocket after starting.
Currently, Rocket Lab has a disposable electron ultra-light rocket, capable of running to a low near-earth orbit up to 225 kilograms of payload. The carrier is created using composite materials and three-dimensional printing technology, which allows you to quickly produce and run it. In the year, Rocket Lab plans to carry out up to 50 carrier starts. The cost of starting the rocket does not exceed $ 6.6 million.
