The French Lydia Mobile Payment Specialist has closed a fundraising of more than $ 100 million (about 89 million euros), bringing its valuation to more than $ 1 billion. The historical partners that are Tencent, Accel and Founders Future were the main contributors, however, joined US investment funds Dragoneer and Echo Street.
The company for 5.5 million users, launched in 2013, ambition to be by 2025 the main account of 10 million Europeans. “To do this, Lydia intends to hire nearly 800 people in the next three years (including 160 in 2022), expanding credit and investment offers and deploy important resources to be a reference actor in at least three major Country of the European Union, “says the press release.
For the moment especially present in France, the mobile payment specialist started to be exported to Portugal and must open an office in Madrid in a few weeks. Germany and Italy are the next targets. In 2020, the company had already lifted 112 million euros in two stages.
