The grocery embargo introduced by Belorussia against a number of countries of the West is a forced measure, the Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of the Country Vladimir Koltovich explained. His words leads the Telegram channel “Sputnik near abroad.”
The main reason for the administration of the embargo Koltovich called the continued sanction pressure on Belarus.
“Unfortunately, we have to react and try to react adequately,” the minister stressed.
Earlier, the Belarusian government announced the introduction of food embargo on a wide list of goods from January 1, 2022. The Government Decree states that the prohibition of imports will be introduced in relation to the EU and its member states, USA, Canada, Norway, Albania, Ireland, Northern Macedonia, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Montenegro and Switzerland. The list of prohibited goods will include meat, milk and dairy products, vegetables, fruits and nuts, fat and animal oils, sausages, confectionery, salt and other goods.
In early December, new sanctions against Belarus introduced the EU, USA, Great Britain and Canada. Under the restrictions on the part of the European Union, 183 Belarusian physicals and 26 organizations were flooded. The United States introduced new sanctions against the country’s public debt that threaten the deficit of dollars and banned their citizens and institutions to cooperate with Belaruscalia. Canada’s sanctions touched on 24 physical and seven legal entities from the republic. Great Britain has introduced restrictions against Belaruscalia and a number of citizens of the country.
