Belarus responded to Western sanctions

The Belarusian government decided to introduce food embargo on a wide list of products from January 1, 2022 in response to Western sanctions. The ban on the importation of goods will affect states that applied sanctions against Minsk, BelTA reports. The Cabinet added that the embargo will not affect goods imported by Belarusians for personal consumption, as well as critical import products, such as baby food.

The government indicated that only for 10 months of this year, Belarus imported from unfriendly food products and food worth more than 530 million dollars. “Positions that form the basis of this import, from the beginning of the next year will be prohibited,” the representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
