Barbados officially emerged from under power of British crown

The Caribbean Island State of Barbados officially came out under the power of the British crown and became the republic, the Queen Standard was launched on the Square of National Heroes in Bridgetown. This is on Tuesday, November 30, reports TASS.

Selected in October President Sandra Mason took office, the Queen of Great Britain Elizabeth II will no longer be the head of the Caribbean state.

“I swear to be faithful Barbados, in accordance with the law I will honestly serve Barbados as president. May God help me,” said Mason during his inaugural speech.

The guest of the ceremony was the heir to the British throne Prince Wales Charles.

Barbados was the colony of Great Britain from 1627 and received independence in 1966. The head of state was considered the Queen of Great Britain, represented by the Governor-General. Barbados is located in the Caribbean, about 300 thousand people live in the country.
