Attitude of Russians to migration crisis in Belarus

Sociological survey of VTsiom revealed the attitude of Russians to the migration crisis in the Belarusian-Polish border. It turned out that 44 percent of respondents believe that Minsk should help the refugees return home. Results are published on the site of the center.

Most often, the Russians believe that the European Union is more fault in the migration crisis – so they said 36 percent of respondents. Another 22 percent was found to call the perpetrators. 15 percent believe that the authorities of Belarus are to blame.

At the same time, the answers differ in age groups. So, among the Russians at the age of 18-24, 36 percent is blamed in the crisis of the Belarusian authorities, and only 10 percent of the European Union. Among the respondents from 60 years and older, on the contrary, 7 percent believe that Minsk is to blame, 47 percent – that the EU.

The question should be done by the authorities of Belarus with migrants, 44 percent of Russians found it difficult to answer. 18 percent said they need to be deported, 17 percent – what they need to help and provide humanitarian aid.

When respondents offered several answer options, 44 percent chose the option that the Belarusian authorities should help migrants return home. 27 percent agreed that Minsk should agree with Poland about the transition of the border refugees.

The question of how Russia should come into the current situation, 32 percent of citizens expressed the opinion that no need to interfere. Almost as much (31 percent) found it difficult to answer. 10 percent of Russians believe that Belarusian and to provide humanitarian assistance.

The migration crisis on the border of Belarus with Poland and Lithuania aggravated on November 8. There are several thousand migrants from the Middle East, who are trying to get into the EU. The West claims that the Belarusian authorities organized a crisis.
