“Hamvi” will get a hybrid modification

Am General, which has developed a family of car “Hamvi” (Humvee) is working on a new modification of the machine. The manufacturer concluded an agreement on cooperation with the British company Qinetiq. Developers will create a hybrid version of the car, reports Defense Blog.

As part of the new project, the concept of “Hamvi” will be created with a hybrid power plant. Developers plan to demonstrate the viability of military vehicles with electrical drive.

The developers team created two interactive models of a promising machine. Through the technology of virtual reality, the model demonstrate the integration of the Qinetiq electrical drive in Hamvi. Defence Blog notes that the modernization of the car requires minimal intervention in the design.

The manufacturer declares that the hybrid drive will reduce the acoustic and thermal notice of “Hamvi”. The use of electric motors will also reduce the fuel consumption by 30 percent, which will give an opportunity to increase the reserve of the machine.

Earlier, the “military-industrial company” showed the new armored car “MPK-Ural” on video. The car received a diesel engine YAMZ-536.

In August, the builders of the US Navy created plywood copies of Hamvi cars. Layouts are designed for logistics teachings.
