Refugees on the border of Belarus and Poland were infected with coronavirus. This was announced by the governor of the Grodno region Vladimir Karanik on the air of the ONT TV channel, reports RIA Novosti.
According to him, two cases of COVID-19 infection were identified among refugees in the transport and logistics center at the “Brugs” checkpoint at the border of the two countries. The governor told that one case of infection is clinically significant, the migrant is undergoing inpatient treatment. In addition, one case of the asymptomatic course of the disease was discovered. “We don’t see any outbreak or dissemination of the disease,” he said.
The governor also stressed that a stationary vaccination point was opened in the transport and logistics center. Nevertheless, he is not popular, as many migrants have passed a full course of vaccination before the start of its way to Europe, knowing the rigid dispensing restrictions in European countries, added a punishment.
Earlier it was reported that migrants, most of which are men from Iraq and Afghanistan, raised the riot in the guarded center for foreigners. According to Polish media, hundreds of illegal immigrants in Vendry went to the site before the center building, began to spoil the equipment and beat the glass. At the same time, they shouted that the purpose of their arrival to Europe is Germany.
