Russia predicted leadership in sales of environmental goods

In the next 30 years, Russian exports, including oil and gas, can become 90 percent carbon-neutral, which will provide the country leadership in the production and sales abroad of environmentally friendly, climatically neutral products. Such a future at the International Forum in the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) predicted the Vice-President of LUKOIL, Leonid Fedun, reports TASS.

First of all, under such products, a businessman understands oil and petroleum products, gas and even coal with “fully or partially purified carbon footprint.” Fedun called not to “throw in the direction of hydrogen”, which makes the EU bid, but focus on traditional supplies for Russia.

According to Vice-President LUKOIL, several scenarios of the Russian economy development are currently worked out for 15-30 years. All of them show that in the future, where the role of the climate agenda will grow, Russia has good prospects.

In particular, Fedun said that the Tesla car is less environmentally friendly than the internal combustion engine, since with the utilization of used batteries, a lot of carbon dioxide is distinguished, and this opens up opportunities for oil exports. Fedun called on to begin to go to the markets of developed countries with carbon-neutral products, as, for example, makes LUKOIL with the supply of diesel fuel and liquefied hydrocarbon gas having such characteristics.

Previously, Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov said that Russia’s transition to the green economy will last 28 years and will cost 90 trillion rubles. At the same time, he indicated that the emphasis would be done on hydrogen – Russia will strive to take 20 percent of the market.
