At least 45 people died in the night from Monday, 22 to Tuesday, November 23, in Bulgaria, in a car accident probably carrying North Macedonia nationals.
“Forty-five or forty-six people died” in this tragedy at 2 hours (1 hour in Paris) on the highway near the village Bosnek, 40 km south of Sofia, said the Commissioner Nikolay Nikolov, head of the disaster control service that spoke on BNT public television. “Seven passengers could be saved” and evacuated to a capital hospital, he said.
Children on board
The cause of the accident could not be determined at this stage. According to the BTV channel, twelve children were on board the vehicle, which came from Istanbul and headed to Skopje, the Macedonian capital.
“It’s a tragedy. We do not know if all the victims come from North Macedonia, but that’s what we assume because the bus is registered in the country,” reacted the Prime Minister of North Macedonia Zoran Zaev, interviewed by Nova TV.
