The commissioning of the Russian gas pipeline “Nord Stream-2” can still occur due to the pressure provided by the United States, France and Italy. Such a scenario was not excluded by the deputy of the European Parliament Gunnar Beck in a conversation with “Tape.ru.”
Beck expressed the opinion that the new gas pipeline will still be launched, as it meets the national interests of Germany. “There is a slight chance that the project can be broken not because of Poland’s pressure, but due to the pressure of France, Italy and the USA,” allowed Beck, but noted that such an option was still unlikely.
Premier Poland’s Prime Minister Mateuš Murezetsky in an interview with the BILD newspaper called Germany to prevent the launch of the Russian North Stream-2 gas pipeline. According to him, Germany should stop the procedure for certification of the gas pipeline project “for the sake of the world” and not to give additional money to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin by purchasing gas.
On November 16, the Federal Network Agency Germany (BNetza) stopped certification of “Northern Flow-2”. The regulator wants to wait when the project operator, Swiss Nord Stream 2 AG, will create an independent subsidiary in Germany, which all assets and rights will be transferred to the country. According to sources Reuters, it threatens the launch launch until the next March.
