High tariffs for container transportation can lead to an increase in world consumer prices by 1.5 percent by 2023. Such a reason for the rise in price of products is named in the report of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
If the growth of betting bets for container transportation will continue in the near future, it will lead to a significant increase in import prices (an average of 11 percent). High rates will primarily affect products with low value added, such as furniture, textiles, clothing and leather products.
As noted in the report, the pandemic aggravated the problems that already existed in the sectorate of sea transport. For example, we are talking about the lack of labor and infrastructure needs. Crisis is aggravated by the closure of the borders and the lack of international flights. As a result, hundreds of thousands of sailors are in the sea without the possibility of replacement.
Earlier it was reported that the head of the Central Bank of Elvira Nabiullina considers one of the reasons for the accelerated increase in prices for products in Russia the lack of labor migrants. She also tied such a tendency with a very good harvest and growing global prices. According to Nabiullina, inflation in Russia approached eight percent, and food inflation reached two-digit values.
