Researchers from the United States studied physical processes with fingers underlying and showed that during it the human body produces the greatest well-known acceleration. The article of scientists is published in Journal of the Royal Society Interface.
After watching the film “Avengers: War of Infinity” Researchers from the Georgia Institute of Technology decided to find out if it is possible to click with the fingers in the metal glove, as the Tanos antagonist paintings. Scientists have studied the process of clicking using high-speed shooting and power sensors.
“Click a finger occurs in just seven milliseconds. This is more than 20 times faster than blinking eyes – 150 milliseconds,” says one of the researchers Saad Bhamla. Experts found out that the maximum angular speed of rotation can reach 7,800 degrees per second, and the angular acceleration is 1.6 million degrees per second in the square. Acceleration recorded by scientists is the largest measured for the human body. At the same time, the fixed speed of rotation is not the highest of the famous: the big one was fixed during the ball of the baseball player.
However, when putting on the thimbles, the maximum angular acceleration has fallen significantly. “Our results indicate that Tanos could not click due to its metal-covered fingers,” the lead author of Raghav Acaria networks. According to researchers, this is due to a reduction in the touch zone between the fingers. At the same time, an attempt to increase friction due to putting on the gloves neither led to the desired effect. This, scientists consider, indicates the existence of the optimal friction level, in which the skin “falls”. It turned out that the adjustment speed is provided by high friction between large and middle fingers. It allows you to accumulate energy until it is released when the thumb clenches.
