Russian political scientist Konstantin Kalachev called the construction of a wall on the border with Belarus to delay the problem of solving the problem with Polish authorities. According to him, such a measure will not be effective and will not allow to stop the flow of migrants. The political scientist is convinced that the construction of the wall will add problems to both Poland and Belarus. He shared his assessment in a conversation with “Tape.ru.”
Earlier, Polish Senator Kshyschtof MRUs said that Warsaw would conclude contracts for the construction of walls on the border with Belarus on December 15 of the current year. After the execution of the Pole contracts plan to immediately start work and lay the foundation. MRUZ has promised that the wall reliably closes the Poland border section with a length of 180 kilometers.
And then what?
Construction of the wall on the border of Poland and Belarus will not solve the problems with refugees, said Kalachev. “Left progressive part of the European Society, various kinds of human rights organizations in any case will be concerned about the fate of refugees, will beat the drums and cut into the pipes, it is quite obvious. In general, the main question is: and then what? Will it be rendered to refugees humanitarian Help and whose account? ” – wondered the political analyst.
He is sure that the construction of the wall will only postpone the solution to the problems with migrants. Ultimately, he will have to decide, he spoke, and it is about this that it is worth thinking to the Government of Poland and Belarus. “What options for their future can now be viewed? Return to the Motherland? I’m afraid most of them are not ready. Stay in Belarus? I think that this is not ready for the Belarus itself. Finding refuge in European countries? For this you need to get into them Otherwise. The construction of the wall and generally a strength solution to the problem is not a decision, and Europe will not be able to ignore it, “said Kalachev.
Poland’s parliament approved the initiative to build protective borders on the border with Belarus at the end of October. The total length of the Belorussian-Polish border is almost 400 kilometers. On the border there are 12 checkpoints.
In early November, the migration crisis was aggravated on the eastern line of the country. Thousands of refugees from the countries of the Middle East approached barriers at the border and tried to penetrate the territory of the European Union. Polish security forces had to use additional forces to keep the pressure of migrants.
